Management Plan It is our desire to protect younger deer which will lead to better opportunities for each and every member. In 2008, a QDM plan was implemented on the main farm area surrounding the clubhouse. This area totals approximately 1750 contiguous acres. All bucks shot on this property must be shoulder mounted, 16" on the outside OR a $300 fine submitted to the hunt club. In all other areas, members are asked to let the young bucks grow. In addition to the main farm, another 500+ acres near Scotland Neck follows the same size limits as the main farm. In 2009, we increased our food plot program and started pre and post-season herd surveys for a more complete management program. Proper record keeping is the key in determining if our management efforts are working. Here is the total club harvest from previous seasons.
2009 Pre-season herd survey on the main management area was conducted in September 2009. Analysis of the 2500 pictures taken resulted in the following statistics : Estimated total herd size : 158 deer (56/sqmi) Overall doe:buck ratio (including fawns) : 2.1 to 1 Adult doe:buck ratio : 2.8 to 1 Antlerless to Antlered ratio (including fawns) : Fawn recruitment : .47
